Support for spin-offs of Universites of Applied Sciences

16/01/2018

Gebert Rüf Stiftung supports bachelor´s and master´s students of universities of applied sciences UAS who are developing an innovative business idea as their thesis topic with its new First Ventures Programme. Candidates who present a convincing proposal will receive up to CHF 150,000.

Gebert Rüf Stiftung has launched its new First Ventures programme on Sunday at the Bürgenstock Konferenz. The foundation aims to use “First Ventures” as a vehicle to encourage talented bachelor´s and master´s students not only to contemplate obtaining a degree, but also to look beyond that and embrace the idea of launching a start-up that turns their idea into new products and services. Support funds of CHF 1.5 million p.a. will be made available for this new focus programme.

The “First Ventures” programme provides financial support of up to CHF 150,000 to allow applicants to continue working on the business project after graduation. An individually tailored coaching programme will smooth the way to launching a start-up. The training programme will be geared to the specific requirements of the selected project managers and is intended to give them access to a broad startup network.

"The aim of First Ventures is to support a culture of entrepreneurship at the Universities of Applied Sciences”, explains Marco Vencato, program manager and deputy director of Gebert Rüf Stiftung. These universities are facing a gap in supporting young entrepreneurial graduates. Here, Gebert Rüf Stiftung can provide relief and at the same time realise the foundation's vision. As a private funding agency guided by its mission statement «making science effective», it supports entrepreneurial projects which are committed to achieving an impact.

Submission deadlines for First Ventures: 1 June 2018 and 15 November 2018. Further information: Gebert Rüf Stiftung.ch
